A video purportedly from Somali terrorist group al-Shabab has called for attacks on shopping malls in the UK, Canada and the United States.

Al-Shabab is responsible for the September 2013 attack on a shopping mall in Kenya, Nairobi that killed 67 people.

In the video, the masked terrorist called for attacks on the Mall of America in Minnesota, the West Edmonton Mall in Canada and the Westfield London mall in the UK.

According to its website, the Mall of America employs more than 100 security personnel, including K9 and plain clothes units. These security personnel are responsible for 96 acres spread over four floors and more than 520 stores.

Security precautions include monthly lockdown drills, in which store operators are instructed to close their gates and take shelter.

The Mall of America said it would increase security measures, but did not elaborate.
