Taiwan is planning to stage a three-day live fire drill on Taiping Island in the South China Sea, reports The South China Morning Post.

Taiwan reportedly plans to hold the drills between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. from November 21 to November 23.

The exercise would be held within 5 nautical miles of Taiping island, which is part of the highly disputed Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.

The drills will involve firing into the sea and the air with 40 millimeter grenade machine guns along with other weapons in the area surrounding Taiping Island.

Fishing vessels, aircrafts and other vessels are advised to not be in the area during those three days.

The Spratly Islands are a group of disputed islands in the South China Sea and are currently being claimed by China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia as well as Taiwan.
